This month's Aviator Spotlight shines its light on Stephen Linson. Stephen is a prime example of why Scanners™ highlights individuals in the aviation community. Read his story below.
Stephen Linson's Story
My name is Stephen Linson. I am the Bearded Pilot and I reside in Charlotte, NC. My home airport is Goose Creek Airpark (28A). I am a first generation pilot in my family. The only one crazy enough to do this kind of thing. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
My aviation journey started when I was a kid. I did some projects for school on the Wright Brothers. However, that’s where it stopped. It wasn’t until I was in a pinch in mid 20’s and needed a job. I got hired doing aircraft deicing at Charlotte Douglas Airport 6 Years ago. I met my buddy Gabe there and he gave my Girlfriend (at the time) a Groupon link to FlyCarolina flight school where I took my first intro flight. From then on, aviation became apart of my future.
However, it wasn’t until 3 years ago that I made the decision that “Everyday is about airplanes.” Employment, education, hobbies, Flying Clubs/friend groups, hang out spots, you name it. Fast forward to today, I’m actively still living that life. However, it’s a little more focused to “Everyday is about flying.” I live a life in aviation, now to focus on flying.
As for my future, my goal is to “be happy and flying airplanes.” Not sure where I’ll end up, what my end goal is, but I know from my experience in the last 3 years, I want to be happy and flying. I know I like advocating for people to fly, aviation content, and making friends in the industry. So I know in the near future, a CFI position, camera equipment and a smile on my face will be apart of me.
